  1. A boiler is any vessel that converts water 
  2. into steam. Boilers are used in conventional
  3. power stations to generate steam to feed 
  4. steam turbines, which drive the electricity 
  5. generators. They are also used in steamships,
  6. which are propelled by steam turbines, and in
  7. steam locomotives. Every boiler has a furnace
  8. in which fuel (coal, oil, or gas) is burned 
  9. to produce hot gases, and a system of tubes 
  10. in which heat is transferred from the gases 
  11. to the water.
